Apoorva Safai, PhD completed her Ph.D. from Symbiosis Centre for Medical Image Analysis, Symbiosis International University, India in March 2023 and obtained her master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology, India in 2015. Her PhD research involved developing a multimodal brain connectomic framework that employed graph attention network on structural and functional brain connectomes for network-based prediction of Parkinson’s disease. She has also worked on identifying radiomics signature of rare brain tumors such as Supratentorial Extra-Ventricular Ependymoma using multimodal MRI and machine learning. Prior to her PhD, she gained experience as a junior research fellow in acquisition and analysis of functional MRI of paediatric population at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), India (2017), and also in the field of cognitive neuroscience at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), India (2016). She is keen to expand and integrate her research in brain MRI analysis with deep learning techniques to facilitate early clinical diagnosis and effective therapeutic outcomes. Outside of work, she likes to read, run, hike and travel.
