Gustavo joined IDiA lab as a graduate research intern in 2023. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Biomedical Science at Universidad Nacional (Colombia) where he has also earned a master’s degree in biomedical engineering under the supervision of Dr. Eduardo Romero at the Computer Imaging and Medical Applications Laboratory. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy and has been a fellowship professor at the same university during his PhD. Gustavo has been working in neurological disorders, specifically Multiple sclerosis (MS) and Parkison’s Disease (PD), MRI radiomics and computer vision-driven motion analysis, respectively. He is looking for predictive AI-driven markers of disease activity and treatment response in MS and recently engaged with brain tumors recurrence on MRI. Outside of work, Gustavo enjoys mountains, nature walks, and riding his bicycle.
