Aroof Aimen is a Research Associate in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research at UW-Madison includes developing segmentation and
machine learning approaches for diagnosis and prognosis of brain tumors. Aroof obtained her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, specializing in machine learning within the computer science and engineering department. Her thesis, titled “Analyzing and Improvising Generalizability of Meta-learning Approaches for Few-shot Learning,” delved into enhancing meta-learning techniques for improved generalization. She is also interested in developing metrics to monitor the training progress of Generative Adversarial Networks. She has published her research work in top-tier machine learning conferences and journals like ECML, ICML, and Transactions in AI. During her doctoral studies, she completed a one-year research internship at Wadhwani AI, where she focused on developing machine learning models for disease detection from chest X-rays, especially in scenarios with limited data. Outside of academia, Aroof enjoys
traveling and exploring new destinations.
